The fabric consists of 87% cotton and 13% polyester, so it is durable so there is little chance of it ending up in the sea. I was in complete shock when I saw a documentary about the rubbish mountains of clothes that end up in the sea in Africa.

And the smile logo at the bottom of the hem? We make that out of denim. Our sewing workshop Thread and Deed therefore needed old jeans. I rustled those up from my colleagues at the GP practice without any difficulty. I get many comments that 149 euros is a hefty price. After my comment “it is not from China”, and yes, “you have to wait 4 weeks because it is handmade”, the penny seems to drop.
